HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt and District Kinettes are holding a competition to find the best decorated homes for Valentine’s Day in Humboldt.

First place will receive a family movie pass and concession tokens to Reel Attractions, second place will receive a gift certificate for an all-out family supper at the Bella Vista (BV), and third will receive sweet treats from the Danish Oven.

“We know now more than ever we’re better together and need to be inspired by love,” said Kelly Soderholm, president of the Humboldt and District Kinettes.

“We just want to give some love back too, and give people something to look forward to with COVID. We thought it would be a good time.”

Soderholm said word of the competition has been already announced in local schools and emailed out to parents.

This isn’t the club’s first holiday home decorating event.

Back in April, the Kinettes ran an Easter decoration contest with a themed basket prize for the winner. This holiday, Soderholm said they wanted to get some more initiative and support local businesses, so they increased the amount of prizes to the top three.

To compete, residents can send photos of their homes to the Humboldt and District Kinettes Facebook page or through texting a photo to Soderholm at 306-231-6079.

While the Kinettes will be looking around the community in-person for entries, Soderholm said by submitting them they won’t risk being missed.

The winners will be notified on Feb. 15
