Gathering Place receives $10,000 for new chairs

HUMBOLDT — Sitting down at the Gathering Place has received a major upgrade.

Due to two donations equalling $10,000 from the Good Neighbour Store, the Gathering Place was able to buy 150 new chairs, plus three storage carts.

“It’s just gives a whole new atmosphere to the building,” said Fran Gasmo Bremmer, the Gathering Place’s board chair.

Most of the money, $7,500, was part of the $320,000 the Good Neighbour Store dispersed to Humboldt non-profits in December. The remainder was given by the store the year before.

Future upgrades planned for the Gathering Place include floor repairs, an automated door opener and heating for the entrance.

The facility is independently operated by a board and has costs of $4,500 per month.
