HUMBOLDT — Parents wanting to ensure their children are safe in their vehicles will be able to get a free child restraint safety inspection.

Safe Communities Humboldt and Area is hosting an inspection clinic on Friday, Sept. 13.

“Inspections will be completed by local certified car seat technicians and for every inspection done, the child will receive a take home bag with information, activity books and related items,” Safe Communities said in a media release.

According to SGI, in 2016, there were 91 children six years of age or younger injured and three killed while riding in a vehicle. Seven of those children were not restrained or were restrained improperly. In addition, 26 of those children were wearing a seatbelt that may have been inappropriate for them.

The clinic will take place in Humboldt on Eighth Avenue between 16th and 17th Streets on Friday, Sept. 13, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
