Yorkton United FC U14

Teijon Abel-Douglas played with the Yorkton United FC U14 team at provincials, where they came away with a silver medal.

Yorkton United FC rolled through the early portion of the tournament as they finished the round robin knocking off Excelsior FC 5-0 and Northern Internazionale 4-0.

With first place in Pool B locked up, Yorkton United FC completed their round robin schedule against the Lakewood Thunder.

After piling up nine goals in a pair of wins Yorkton United FC’s offense dried up in their final round robin contest as they managed just a single goal in a 2-1 loss to the Thunder.

The loss left Yorkton United FC with a 2-1 round robin record, good enough for first place in Pool B, setting up a semi-final clash against the second place finishers from Pool A, Swift Current United.

Yorkton United FC’s offense came alive for their semi-final clash as they tied a tournament high with five goals in a 5-1 drubbing of Swift Current United.

The semi-final victory moved Yorkton United FC into the final where they got a rematch against the Thunder.

Much like their round robin contest the game was a low scoring affair as both teams managed just a single goal through the end of regulation time.

In extra time it was the Thunder who managed to find the back of the net as they came away with a 2-1 win.

The loss left Yorkton United FC U14 with the provincial silver medal.

Yorkton United FC U18

The results were much more favourable for a trio of Humboldt natives, as Rene Thibault, Zach Wittig, and Simon Ford captured the provincial championship as part of the Yorkton United FC U18 squad.

Yorkton United FC rolled through the round robin with a perfect 2-0 record thanks to a 4-1 victory over the Saskatoon United Soccer Club Spartans and a 4-0 win over Battlefords United FC.

The 2-0 record left Yorkton United FC in first place after the round robin, granting them a spot in the provincial final as they awaited the winner of the Spartans and Battlefords United FC.

After the Spartans beat Battlefords United 3-1 in the semi-finals Yorkton United FC looked to knock off the Spartans for the second time in the tournament in the final.

After averaging four goals a game in their first two contests Yorkton United FC’s offense regressed slightly as they managed just three goals in the final but it was more than enough as they ran away with a 3-1 win to capture the gold medal.
