All five teams playing in the championships — the Humboldt Broncos, Penticton Vees, Woodstock Slammers, Portage Terriers and the Soo Thunderbirds — were brought on to the ice. The Humboldt Broncos battled hard against the Portage Terriers in Games 6 and 7 of the ANAVET Cup series April 28 and 29. Though Humboldt lost Game 6 in triple overtime, they won Game 7 4-0 to claim their third ANAVET Cup in five years.

The 75th Annual Humboldt and District Music Festival was held March 12-27 at the Humboldt Uniplex, finishing with a concert on April 1 at Marysburg Church. Performers showed off many skills, including piano, musical theatre, band, guitar and strings at the festival.

The 80th annual Santa Claus Days in Watson were held on December 3. The town played host to a variety of activities, from shopping specials in local businesses to crafts for the kids at the arena, during the event, which ran from December 2-3.
