Humboldt Broncos team bus involved in serious collision

ARMLEY — RCMP are reporting a serious collision between a hockey team’s bus and a semi-trailer unit near the intersection of Highways #35 and #335. The Star-Phoenix reports the bus was the Humboldt Broncos’.

ARMLEY — RCMP are reporting a serious collision between a hockey team’s bus and a semi-trailer unit near the intersection of Highways #35 and #335.

Police said there are fatalities and injuries but aren’t releasing numbers at this time.

Nipawin RCMP, along with emergency personnel, including the Tisdale Fire Department, are currently on scene and are continuing rescue efforts.

Traffic is blocked near the scene and RCMP said they expect that to continue for several hours, with drivers facing lengthy delays. Drivers are asked to use extreme caution when driving in the area, and are asked to avoid the area altogether if possible.  

A gathering point has been established at Nipawin’s Apostolic Church on 109 4th Ave. East for families and friends. RCMP say more information will be provided there. Emergency measures personnel will be at the church, as will Victim Services representatives.
